After the devastation of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), I went to the Philippines to volunteer my time and manual labor on the island of Leyte for 4 months. While working to rebuild communities that had been completely wiped away from the storm surge, the volunteers in our organization decided to create a charity bike ride to raise funds for homes.
Feeling passionate about this bike ride, I decided to volunteer my web design skills to produce a logo, landing page, infographic poster + flyer, and other promotional collateral for the bike ride which followed the path of the typhoon.
The goal was to raise 1.1 million Pesos which would allow us to build a permanent core house for a family living in Barangay 83-C in Tacloban City. In the end the volunteers raised far beyond what they had imagined, totaling in at $50,000 USD and were able to build multiple houses for families.
