Balancing the science and emotion of living with Type 2 Diabetes

The Challenge

Empower people to take back control of their disease

How might we connect the dots between personal glucose data, nutritional knowledge, and real- time decisions to create lasting population-level behavior changes for positive health outcomes?

The Opportunity

“We seek to design a category-defining experience for people living with Type 2 Diabetes, remarkable for how effortless it is to set up, and how it empowers users to develop new habits from personalized education.”

Leading product vision and design strategy

Lead Product Designer / Principal Designer

December 2019 - July 2021

I teamed with the engagement manager, client team [UX designers, instructional designers, product managers, and human factors], third party researchers from HealthMade and WhatIF?!, and Buck agency (illustrators).

I facilitated prioritization and stakeholder alignment to drive product vision. Ultimately I designed and built a conceptual prototype that allowed our direct stakeholders to receive additional funding to move into the build phase. Once the prototype was designed, I mentored 2 junior designers to facilitate production design and coordinate development hand-off.

“Patients come in with a lot of guilt and blame (ready to change), or they come in completely indifferent (not ready to change).”
